Restoring a terminated account in Jetbackup
NOTE: If it’s been longer than 30 days after the termination of the account, unfortunately, no backup will exist in Jetbackup.
If it’s been less than 30 days after a cPanel account has been terminated, then you can restore a full account backup through Jetbackup.
To start, you will want to get the cPanel username for the account from WHMCS profile:
Copy the username.
Then in WHM for the server associated with the account, search “Jetbackup” and click “Jetbackup 5” under plugins.
Wait a few seconds for everything to load (Jetbackup is pretty finicky so this is important or you won’t be able to find the backups). Then click on the Total Backups block.
Wait for the list of backups to load and then click Orphans and search for the cPanel username.
When the account is found, click anywhere on or next to the username to see the Backups and Download options. They'll open up in a new row under the username. Click on View Backups.
You’ll see the date of the most recent backup in the dropdown menu and then you'll click Restore to restore that backup:
In the pop up window, you'll be shown what will be restored and will need to click Restore Selected Items to start the restoration process.
Note that the "Go to queue after I click restore," option is selected. This means the queue will open and show you the restoration's progress.
There is also the "Suspend account after restore" option that will be selected for any accounts that have been suspended. You can leave this selected as we will unsuspend it in WHMCS after the account has been restored.
Then, you can watch in the queue to make sure everything processes properly.
Once the restore is completed, go back to the WHMCS Product/Services page, click the module commands Unsuspend [1] and Change Password [2]. Ensure the status is set to Active [3], and re-save the settings if needed.
After that, you and the user should be good to go!
Downloading a backup
Follow the previous steps until just before you select Restore, and instead select Download.
To start the download process, click Download Selected Items in the pop up window.
Once the file is ready the status will change to Completed in the queue.
Once it is complete, go back to the Jetbackup home page, click on the Total Backups block, wait for the list of backups to load, click Orphans and search for the cPanel username.
When the account comes up, click anywhere on or next to the username to see the Backups and Download options and click View Downloads.
You'll then see a list of downloadable backups available for the account and can click the Download button to download the one you need.
