Jetbackup is a native cPanel plugin and software that connects to offsite storage similar to previous backup solutions we've used in the past, but comes with a lot more features including:
- The ability for Reclaim to restore an entire cPanel account rather than just files and databases (SSL Certs, DNS zones, Email, it’s all backed up)
- Easy to use restoration tools for customers
- Low load backup processes with incremental storage
- Offsite storage, which means these backups are not taking up space on your account like your Installatron application backups may be.
The JetBackup 5 tool can be located by logging in to your cPanel, and navigating to the Files section and selecting JetBackup 5.
We have a guide on Restoring Full Backups Using JetBackup that walks you through how to restore content using this tool, which is available across all of our servers including shared hosting, managed customers, and Domain of One's Own systems.
Our backup policy is designed to balance convenience with storage efficiency. Rather than storing a large number of daily backups, we store a rotating set that gives you a range of restore points:
- 3 Daily Backups
- 2 Weekly Backups
- 2 Monthly Backups
Depending on the date, this means you may be able to restore from as far back as 60 days ago. This structure reflects what we've found to be most useful: users typically need to restore something from the last 24–48 hours, or from well over a month ago, so this policy aims to cover both scenarios while keeping storage manageable.
In addition to our full backup restoration guide and our guide on restoring specific files, you will find a wealth of information at the Jetbackup End User Documenation.
