Default Plugins for WordPress Installations

When installing WordPress through Installatron, the site will come with a few default plugins installed. While you can always remove them and install alternatives, these plugins are chosen to offer useful out-of-the-box functionality for beginning users or users who are in the process of migrating from another site.

Akismet Anti-Spam Protection

Akismet Anti-Spam Protection is a security plugin for filtering spam on blog comments and contact forms. It checks comments and contact form submissions against their global database, and allows you to review anything it flags as spam in case of false positives.

This plugin is off by default. It requires an API key to configure, which is free for personal blogs and paid for commercial sites.

Limit Login Attempts Reloaded

Limit Login Attempts Reloaded is a security plugin that protects your WordPress site from brute force attacks by restricting the number of login attempts allowed.

If the number of failed login attempts from a given IP address hits the plugin's threshold, that IP address is automatically blocked and cannot attempt to log in anymore. This weakens bad actors' attempts to get into your site by randomly guessing usernames and passwords, since they will have a very limited number of chances to guess. The site admin will be notified of lockouts if there are too many.

This plugin is on by default. You can choose the threshold for how many attempts are allowed before a lockout, and how many lockouts it takes to trigger a notification. More information is available in this guide: Limit Login Attempts Reloaded Notifications.

WordPress Importer

WordPress Importer is a functionality plugin that lets you easily migrate content between WordPress sites. You can export a WordPress site's contents, including posts, pages, metadata, authors, and other information, into an .xml file, and then use this plugin in order to import the same content.

This plugin is on by default.
