Steps to Transfer a Domain Away from Reclaim Hosting

Of course we’re sorry to hear that you want to transfer your domain name away from Reclaim Hosting. Performing the following steps will ensure your transfer completes successfully.

Domains are by default locked at the time of registration to protect the domain from being transferred away without your permission. Additionally ICANN requires that all new domain registrations and transfers be locked for 60 days. As long as the domain has been with Reclaim Hosting for more than 60 days it can be unlocked.

  1. Log in to your client area at https://portal.reclaimhosting.com/
  2. Go to Domains / My Domains
  3. For the domain you wish to unlock click Manage Domain
  4. From this domain management interface you will find a tab called Registrar Lock that will show you the current status and allow you to toggle the lock on or off.

Registrar Lock Status

We also need to turn off ID Protection. This is done by clicking Disable under the Addons tab.

Disable ID Protection

The final step is to obtain the EPP Code. A domain authorization code (also referred to as an EPP Code) provides an extra level of security for the domain name registration. This code is unique to each domain name and is assigned by the registrar at the time of registration. It is basically a password ensuring that only the domain owner can initiate the transfer.

Again under the Manage Domain section you will see Management Tools

Click this and choose Get EPP Code

Get EPP Code

You will now be shown the EPP Code which can be used at the new domain registrar to initiate the transfer over to them. Please be aware that this can take 5-7 days.
