So you got a hosting account and your own domain and would like to install Scalar, but how exactly do you do that? Well, you’re in luck–Reclaim Hosting provides you with an automated installer for Scalar, making installing the application a breeze.
First, you will need to log in to the client area at https://portal.reclaimhosting.com with your email address and the password you set during the order process.
Your client area provides a dashboard to access account information, invoices, and access to cPanel (the control panel for your hosting account). Click cPanel to access your hosting account tools.
We will be using the automated Scalar installer listed under the Applications section.
Click Install this application to begin the process of setting up a Scalar site on your domain.
You’ll be asked a few pieces of information to install Scalar. The Location for the install can either be the main domain or any subdomain in your account. If you choose to install into a directory under your domain be aware your site will have a URL with that directory as a suffix of the URL (ie. yourdomain.com/blog )
By default our automated installer will add the latest copy of Scalar to your site and keep it up-to-date automatically. We recommend you leave these settings at the default.
Fill out the email, full name, and password blanks. You can use the password generator provided, though do be sure to copy that password so you are able to use it in the future. The Registration Key is a code of your choice to restrict registration–it’s not required for installation and it also can be changed later. If you would like more information on the Registration Key, Scalar has documentation here.
If you have advanced needs you can modify options under the Advanced section, but otherwise click Install at the bottom right to start the installation.
You will see Installatron working hard to install Scalar for you.
When it’s complete you’ll be presented with links to access both the homepage as well as the Administration area for Scalar.
And you are done! Now you can build an amazing site and, should you encounter any problems, you can reach out to email@example.com and we would be happy to help.
