We get questions occasionally from Reclaim Hosting users that are interested in adding a sub-user to their cPanel account. Multi-user cPanel access would be awesome, but unfortunately that’s something that cPanel has not yet built into their platform yet.
If you're a Shared Hosting user and are just looking to add an additional user that can log in to your cPanel as is, you can add them within your Client Area instead, and we have instructions on how to do so here: Add and Associate Users within the Client Area.
However, cPanel does have a User Management area, and while the User Manager isn’t exactly multi-user cPanel access, it lays the foundation for it. And it does allow you to easily create a user with access to multiple items at once.
You con find your User Manager within cPanel by scrolling to the bottom of your cPanel page and looking in the Preferences category:
Upon clicking User Manager, you'll be brought to a page that lists all the existing users on your cPanel and also allows you to add additional users.
Note the settings wheels next to the search bar that allow you to refine your search, as well as the Add User button.
When selecting the Add User option, you have access to an array of options from a single screen. On top of quickly creating and managing user accounts, you can now also create and maintain email*, FTP and Web Disk accounts.
*Note: Email accounts can only be created by those with an Organizational Shared Hosting plan.
The User Manager also allows you to link separate user accounts (email, FTP, Web Disks) that share the same username, so users can make use of the new Unified login system. Basically, this just means that End users now have to remember one set of credentials as opposed to different sets for every account.
You can also see which users have access to what by seeing what icons are blue, meaning activated, in the User Manager page. Greyed out icons indicate that a user does not have access to that feature.
A blue envelope icon indicates that the user has access to email. A blue truck icon indicates that the user has access to FTP. And the web disk icon indicates that the user has access to the Web Disk.
