Automated cPanel Disk Usage Notifications

Originally by Isabelle Attard.

Automated cPanel disk usage notifications provide warnings when resources are being exhausted. One of the most common notifications sent by cPanel is the disk quota usage warning. Read below to understand the basics of this cPanel notification such as where it comes from, an example of what it looks like, and how it can be changed.

Where to find cPanel notification settings:

You can easily find these settings in WebHost Manager (WHM) using Tweak Settings. Note that you will need root access to follow these steps:

Step 1: Log into WHM as the root user

Step 2: In the top right corner search “Tweak”

Step 3: click “Tweak Settings”

Step 4: Click on the Notifications Tab

Step 5: Find the notifications that cPanel automatically sends emails for:

  • System disk space usage warning
  • Disk quota usage warning
  • Out of memory warning

These notifications are by default set to “on”. If you wish to disable them, then simply click on the “off” radial button, then click on the Save button at the bottom of the page.

Here you can also make changes to the threshold of disk space used when a notification is sent. We advise that you let Reclaim know if this is something you would like to change.
